#ceritakita: How about free music, free physical theatre, and a creative bazaar this Friday night?

LOOKING for local magic and fun this Friday night to spend with good company? Why not head on over to downtown KL for an evening of lights, music, people and — most importantly — story telling? #ceritakita takes place tomorrow at 2 Hang Kasturi (also known as Urbanscapes House and the old OCBC bank building) and it’s free entry!

#ceritakita will be the first part of an exciting instalment that brings together a bazaar and local creatives hailing from around the Klang Valley as a storytelling platform for youth, right in the middle of the cosy and bustling 2 Hang Kasturi,a venue famous for hosting Kuala Lumpur’s longest-running arts festival Urbanscapes. It will kick off as soon as the sun begins to set and keep going until nighttime.

The one-day event hopes to share the many anecdotes and tales about our capital city through music and theatre. Performing during the evening are none other than Feel Tu Penting and Asterik Anak Seni. Be sure to check out the performances and to bring along some pocket money to buy something special from the pop-up bazaar too! It’s yet another promising event for music and art lovers to attend — we hope to see you there!

In any case, here’s a little bit more about the program!

Cerita Kita FTP (1)-02 (1)FTP Humble Jam

Feel Tu Penting comprises a group of local singer-songwriters led by Endee Ahmad and Otam. These renegades are well known in the music scene for their infectious charisma as well as their high-energy performances and events which, of course, are all about feeling and being a part of the moment.

These guys are open to all types of musicians from all walks of life, backgrounds and disciplines. Their performances turn spaces into hubs for the humble and the experienced, providing quality music and entertainment for everyone.

FTP Humble Jam will see the band jam with their friends and musical guests — catch their outstanding improvisational skills from 5:00pm to 7:00pm when they take over 2 Hang Kasturi.

Gerak Lumpur

Next in line is Asterik Anak Seni, an unconventional and upcoming young Malaysian theatre company who are passionate about storytelling. They recently produced two plays, namely “Blues Hari Isnin” that showed at Studio Revolution Stage, and “Pedofilia” which premiered at Damansara Performing Arts Centre (DPAC). Their plays are raw and refreshing, providing new perspectives on societal issues.

Their performance “Gerak Lumpur” is an ode to Medan Pasar’s history and heritage. Performing a physical theatre piece inspired by the trajectory of Medan Pasar square, the young ensemble hopes to celebrate Kuala Lumpur’s diverse culture and undying togetherness. “Gerak Lumpur” is brand new piece conceptualised by Asterik Anak Seni and it spans 45-minutes.

#ceritakita takes place from 5:00pm to 9:30pm at 2 Hang Kasturi, No. 2 Jalan Hang Kasturi, Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur. Check out Facebook for more details on the event! #ceritakita is organised by labDNA and Freeform with support from Think City and Minut Init.
