Search Pushes Concert Four Months Back, Goes For Merdeka Tie In

KUALA LUMPUR, 16 March — After indefinitely postponing their Search 35 Tahun concert last Saturday citing security concerns regarding their choice of venue, Malaysian rock band Search yesterday announced new dates for the event.

Appearing on three local radio stations, lead vocalist Amy Search informed listeners that the concert will be postponed to 30 August 2016. According to Amy, the concert was pushed back to coincide with the independence of the Federation of Malaya.

Initially scheduled to take place on April 9 in Stadium Merdeka, concert organiser AFJETS and the band deemed that the location posed a security risk for concert-goers. The band will announce a new venue soon.

The band hopes the decision will help instill nationalism in concert-goers and has also commenced a social media campaign promoting use of the hashtag #demicintakupadamu, derived from popular track “Fantasia Bulan Madu”. The band urged fans to use the hashtag to show their love for the country.

Furthermore, the band announced a number concessions, reducing prices across the board. From early bird to VIP, all seats at Search 35 Tahun will be discounted until 1 May 2016.  Those who have already purchased a ticket will also be given a free ticket.

On top of delivering on the stage, the band also promised cultural performances and a food truck festival among other things to expect at the special event. There will be prizes to win from surprise guerilla appearances

Organisers unveiled the concert’s special guest performer — Japanese guitarist Akira Takasaki from Loudness was revealed to be joining the band on stage for the night.

Tickets for the concert can be obtained via Ticketpro and AFJETS.
