THE 3rd ASEAN Literary Festival (ALF) is taking place from May 5-May 8 at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta, Indonesia!
This year’s edition of the much awaited literary occasion for Southeast Asian poets, fictionists, dramatists and other creative writers will be themed “The Story of Now”.
In it’s third year, the festival is ready to take up more pressing and relevant issues of today’s day and age — an era of life proceeding in an ever-changing digital world, against a backdrop of regressing civilisations and radicalism.
Applications are also open for ALF’s new ASEAN-Japan Residency Program. Spanning one-week from 29 April – 5 May, twelve chosen writers will have a unique opportunity to enhance their understanding about life in the region.
If you’re between 18 – 40 and are a citizen of any one of the ten ASEAN countries, Timor Leste, or Japan, you’re eligible! Send in an application by submitting your book, five short stories, five essays, or ten poems (in English or Malay) and your CV to firstname.lastname@example.org before 10 March!
ALF requires that participants be able to speak English, but all literature submissions can be in English or in your own language. But once you’re in, there’s no weaseling out — you will be made to participate in every activity throughout your week in Jakarta.
