We already have a top ten music chart so no harm in a movie chart, too. Even so, talking about all ten movies would be boring to me, so this week I shall make it about the top three.
The silly mall cop from Paul Blart: Mall Cop is back. Standing at number three this week is the sequel, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2. Directed by Andy Fickman, Mall Cop 2 has already grossed $58.5 million in North America and $28.9 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $87 million, against a budget of $30 million. In its opening weekend, the film grossed $23.8 million, finishing second at the box office behind Furious 7. Behind the shameless action, clearly no one can resist a good LOL session.
The Hong Kong crime thriller film, Helios takes the number two spot. The title of the movie is based upon the nickname of the criminal-hero himself. Everyone has a sidekick – except for me – Helios has a great one named Messenger. They steal a number of uranium and plan to produce mass-destructive weapons to trade with some terrorist organization in Hong Kong. From there on you know what happens right? Fights, gunshots, I wonder if bazookas are involved as well. A whole lotta shooting.
All you Marvel fans should be proud of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Although the movie wasn’t as memorable as The Avengers in the end, these guys are still at number one. Not much of a Marvel fan myself, I did take exception to enjoying an entire movie full of hot from Chris Hemsworth.
Back in October, Marvel announced a two-part sequel to Age of Ultron titled Avengers: Infinity War. Part 1 is scheduled to be released on May 4, 2018, with Part 2 scheduled for May 2019. Well all you Marvel fans will already be marking that down in your geek-out calendars.
